An Introduction

I'm a new student affairs professional writing about issues that I observe professionally and personally in the field of student affairs. What this is, is nothing but an attempt to dig beneath the surface of the work that we do and challenge the premises of that work, in nothing less than an effort to change the fundamental orientation of the field. 

I almost wrote here, "please forgive me for the immaturity of youth," but the best polemics are written in the spirit of impetuousness. If anything, this is my attempt to be a scholar-practitioner, as we call it in our field. To paraphrase, and as I would put it, student affairs practitioners have attempted to support higher education - the point is to change it.
